Celebration of Life May 9th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. The Church at Old Town 815 Hwy 52 E Helena, AL 35080 Pamela Denise Araujo - (Neicie or Ms. Pam) to her friends. February 24, 1965 – April 23,2026 Pamela Denise Araujo, 61, of Bessemer, AL, passed away at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, surrounded by her daughters and boyfriend after complications from her courageous battle with cancer. Neicie was born on February 24th, 1965 in Birmingham, Alabama. She lived life on her own terms- adventurous, funny and never one for following the rules. She didn’t have the easiest life, but those who knew her remember her fierce loyalty, resilience, quick wit and stubborn, tender heart. Neicie worked in hospitality for many years at Jack’s Family Restaurant in Bessemer until her illness forced her to retire. She truly treasured the meaningful friendships she made there. She had a deep love for animals and found joy and peace at her home and in the nature of her property. She treasured her time with family and the special friendship she shared with Char Mason and so many others. She found pleasure in completing puzzles of all kinds, watching true crime on television, sending reels and pictures on messenger to all her loved ones and with a snicker of a laugh she would say that she, “delighted in bossing Frankie Reis around.” More than anything, Neicie loved her grandchildren fiercely. Neicie was preceded in death by her father and mother, James Barker Troxell and Velma Ann Troxell and her beloved sister, Catherine Arlene May and a host of “fur-babies” – the beloved pets she loved as her children. She is survived by her daughters, Kim Holmes (Woody), Valarie Faulkner (Matthew), sister’s; Jean Mitchel, Renea Yates, Connie Wood, brother James Pannell, along with nieces, nephews and of course her wildly beloved grandchildren: Camden Holmes, Ashton Holmes, Harper Holmes and Lydia Colvin. A service to honor Neicie’s life will be announced by family soon. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you please seek preventative cancer screenings often, eat desserts first in her honor, watch her favorite movie: Overboard, or donate to your local animal shelter in memory of Neicie.
