Ms. Mary Patricia Whitfield

Linda Mary Patricia Whitfield, age 75, of Ashville, Alabama passed away June 25, 2026. She was born on January 9, 1951 in Otterbein, Indiana to Evelina and Maurice Cameron. She was known as Mary Patricia to her mom, Pat to her family and early life friends. Her later in life friends will know her as Linda or Miss Linda. She is survived by her longtime spouse Charles Jones, her brother Willam Cameron, her daughters Candy Bohney and Theresa Smith, her grandchildren Paige Bohney(Josh Jones), Chelcie Whitfield, Amanda (Mitch) Lange, Addison (Kolton) Johnson and her great grandchildren Nolan, Everly, Kaydence, McKynlee, Parker, Harper, Walker and Miles and two more on the way. She was preceded in death by mother Evelina and Father Maurice, sister Janet Daniels, her infant daughter Sandy Lemon, her step daughters Chrissy Jones, Janet Jesselink, Jennifer Lingefelt, and a stepson Jody Ponder, her grandchildren, Alexis Jones, Josh Whitfield and Scott Robson. We are sure she had a great reunion with her best friends Ruby and Naedal. Linda was mischievous as a child. She often was in trouble with the Nuns for playing with the pigs on the way to school. Linda really had a talent for art in general. In her teenage years she really liked drawing cartoons. Linda owned a small ceramic business. She made many crochet blankets for those that she loved. Linda was a good homemaker and cook. She would never leave a sink of dishes and made a mean biscuits and gravy. She learned Cajun cooking for Charles. It wasn’t Christmas without pea salad. She always set a full table, there was never a hungry person around her. She was a voracious reader. Linda loved to hunt, fish and camp. She was a crack shot often comparing herself to Annie Oakley. She and Charles put on great hunting events for Wounded Warrior. Linda was kind of a rolling stone, she lived in many places until she settled in Alabama. Roll Tide. She had many different types of jobs from RCA, General Mills, Duncan Electric, truck driving, working in the Pell City Jail to volunteering for the local fire department. She started driving semis when there was not a lot of women in the field. Many of Linda’s friends came from her time as a truck driver. She also had a great group of cruise ship friends. They went on about 20 trips. Linda met Charles in 1988. He heard her voice on the CB and he chased her down to meet her. They soon became team drivers and stayed that way for 17 years. She had a love of gospel music, country and listening to Charles play the guitar. Linda was jinxed when it came to green cars. She owned three but totaled five. Linda did have a green thumb though. She loved her flowers, especially roses. She was even a test grower for Jackson Perkins. Linda loved to garden and grow her tomatoes and okra. She loved to can her gardens bounty. Linda also had a soft spot for animals. She would have rescued everyone of them if possible. She may have liked them more than people. She was a lifelong Cubbie. Linda loved her perfumes and candles. Her motto was you should smell good everywhere you go. Linda fit many lifetimes into this life. We would like to thank the earthly angels from Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for the care they provided to Linda and our family during this time. We appreciate all of her friends that showed up to sit and visit with her. There is a memorial service planned for Linda on July 19, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Pinedale Baptist Church 3137 Pinedale Road, Ashville, AL 35953. For those unable to attend there will be a livestream of the service.
