Mr. Gabriel Gene Freeman

Gabriel G. Freeman, 81, of Anniston, Alabama went to meet his Lord and Savior on June 21, 2025. Beloved uncle, brother and cousin, he lived a charmed life. He was born in Abel (Delta), Alabama. For many years, he frequently traveled to numerous states with our parents and his younger brothers. He had a passion for music, both singing and playing his prized Martin guitar. He often performed for friends and relatives. Gabriel could have followed that dream to Nashville but instead chose to take care of his parents and five younger brothers and sisters. He was a true friend to many, often giving people rides to places because they were incapable of transporting themselves or simply had no money. In life, he briefly served in the U.S. Navy, worked in construction and purchased vehicles across the country, remodeled and sold them. He was also a very skilled painter. He was devoted to his family and was predeceased by his parents, W. Scott Freeman and Katherine S. Freeman. He also outlived his brother, Jerry D. Freeman, his brother, Walter "Barry" Freeman and his sister, Sherry K. Freeman. Sadly, he lost three of his nephews at young ages, Gary Freeman, Barron Freeman and Timothy Freeman. He his survived by his sister, Ginger Freeman, and brother, Jimmy Scott Freeman (wife) Charlotte Freeman, special sister-in-law, Elaine Freeman and one nephew, Mark Messina. He still has three nieces, Terrie McFarland (husband) Troy McFarland, Katherine Cebrian (husband) Andrew Cebrian and Gabrielle Jones and (husband) Josh Jones. He has countless great nieces and nephews as well as great great nieces and nephews. Words cannot express the extent of how much Gabriel will be missed. He led a lifetime of service helping people everywhere in any way he could. He was an exceptional man who truly would "give you the shirt off his back". Pallbearers will be Troy McFarland, Kevin Freeman, Robert Wyatt and Nolan Wyatt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Louis Freeman and dear friend, Ed Davidson. Gabriel's funeral will be held at Abel Bethsadia Church in Abel (Delta), Alabama on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with formal services to proceed at 2:00 p.m. Pastor David Poore and Pastor Nathan Headrick will officiate. In the last years of his life, Gabriel attended weekly church services at Wayside Baptist Church. His close friend, Ed Davidson, picked him up every Sunday morning to attend church services. Gabriel was kept on the Church's prayer list when he became too ill to attend services.
